PATIO SEASON IS OFFICIALLY OPEN

The BBQ’s have been dusted off and ready for some grilling action.  You can’t have a BBQ without some drinks so dazzle your guests with a sorbetto cocktail.  This is so easy to make and your guests will be impressed.  All you need is a martini glass, a scoop of lemon sorbetto (preferably Mario’s Gelati), a slice of lemon and last but certainly not least 2 ounces of Martini Bianco.  Pour the Martini Bianco directly over the scoop of lemon sorbetto and garnish with the slice of lemon. 

Refreshing on a hot summer day and a nice alternative to the classic martini.  Enjoy!

GOING TO THE CHAPEL…

The flowers have started to bloom which means the start of wedding season!  Many couples are seeking an alternative to the traditional wedding cake and often inquire if we make Gelato Wedding Cakes.  The problem with a gelato wedding cake is that it melts!! By the time you cut the 10th piece you would no longer be serving cake but milkshake.  A nice alternative could be to serve one of our specialty portions.  All of our portions can be sold by the case at your closest Amato Gelato.

Gelato for breakfast??

We all know that breakfast is supposed to be the most important meal of the day but finding time to eat breakfast can be a challenge.  We have the solution to your breakfast woes…Mario’s Gelati frozen yogurt blocks!

These tasty yogurt blocks are perfect for making smoothies.  Add the yogurt block to your blender or magic bullet (perfect for making smoothies)then add your favourite fruit and juice or soy milk and blend.  Voila, the best tasting smoothie you have ever tasted and so easy to make.  If you have the magic bullet then you know it comes in those handy take away mugs.  Who needs coffee when you can have a breakfast smoothie.  The yogurt blocks come individually wrapped so no need to worry about scooping or serving size, it’s already done for you.

Happy Easter!

Amato Gelato Cafe in Vancouver open for business!

Amato Gelato Cafe is open for business despite being behind barricades for the Olympics!!  Access to our Vancouver store is challenging at the moment but we are still open and hoping to see you.  The best way to visit us is by sky train or bus as parking is almost impossible at the moment.  If you have questions please give us a call (604-879-9011) and we will help navigate your way in.

Try Something New for 2010! Affogato

January is a month usually reserved for resolutions to help kick off a new year. Why not make one of those resolutions to try something new.

Have you ever tried an Affogato? An Affogato translated from Italian means “drowned in coffee”. We don’t want to drown you in coffee but imagine this… it’s a cold, perhaps rainy day, and you want a treat so you travel to your favourite gelato shop, Amato of course, and allow the staff to combine the rich creamy taste of gelato with a hot shot of espresso. Is there anything better than satisfying a craving for a sweet treat and adding warmth with a hot shot of espresso?

 Try it once and you will be back for more! You can even make this dessert at home and wow your guests. Brew some of your favourite coffee but make it extra strong as you only need a small amount then scoop your favourite flavour of Mario’s Gelati into a dish and pour the coffee over top. We recommend vanilla bean but feel free to experiment with some of our other flavours like chocolate or if you are a real coffee lover try our espresso flake gelato. Delizioso!!
